Valorant FPS Drops Increased With The 2.05 Update! How Can You Fix It?

Valorant became one of the most popular games in a short time and will celebrate its first year anniversary soon. The game, which brought a new dimension to the tactical-FPS genre with its colorful graphics, also won recognition quickly with its low system requirements. Riot Games loves to change the content of their games in a short period. However, sometimes those changes can cause annoying problems. The FPS drops are one of them, and Valorant players are mostly grumbling about it since the release of the 2.05 update.

The 2.05 patch was for improvement and optimizations most than balancing, and it wasn’t that big. Many players have become bothered by random FPS drops after this patch. Of course, it would not be right to blame the new patch for FPS drops. However, players on various social media platforms began to complain about it after the 2.05 patch. The players don’t know the source of the problem, but they continued to play somehow. Most of them think that Riot will fix it with the next patch, but unfortunately, the 2.06 patch couldn’t solve it.

A similar problem also arose with the 1.05 patch. The players tried to get through this problem in some way by exchanging ideas. According to some players, a solution from those days is also solving the current issue.

How To Fix Valorant FPS Drops?

This method is quite simple, and maybe you have applied this method to many games before.

  1. Launch Valorant, and minimize the game
  2. Open your Task Manager
  3. Click “More Details“, and select the “Processes” tab
  4. Right-click Valorant, and select “Go to details
  5. Right-click “VALORANT-WIN64-Shipping.exe“, and select “Set Affinity
  6. A window will pop up showing which CPU threads are currently enabled for Valorant, check the unchecked boxes
  7. Repeat the same process for “VALORANT.exe” too

If all the threads are already checked in the pop-up window, this solution will not work for you. However, if you still want to solve this problem, of course, there are other actions you can take. First, make sure your graphic card driver is up to date. Another option is lowering the game’s graphics settings. Playing with low graphics settings for a while until the devs fix this issue would be better than getting low FPS.

One of the developers, Riot Nu, stated that this solution would not work for everyone. However, by commenting on this method, we have learned that the developers are also aware of the problem.
